Great idea and I think I might do something similar with my new Kigoma tank

I based it on the way Lloyd Ashton had his Wc breeding tanks set up. 
Pretty similar but with less rocks.

I like the set up. You get a lot more activity from the fronts. Makes the tank a lot more interesting

I must admit, I was never really a big fan of frontosa tanks due to always seeing big ones basically sitting still in their tanks only moving to eat. 

 

It wasn't till I saw some of Lloyd Ashtons videos of his WC stock that got me interested lol. 

Some may find the tank set up a lil boring but I like how it actually shows off the fish.

Not at all mate, Frontosa when big are only interesting when in full health and have space,,,,, people that disregard KH GH will always have motionless boring frontosa that are nothing but just surviving.
You may have to remove a few as they mature, because sometimes with age, the odd one may get the distended dropped jaw, and messes up the perfect stock look,,, as this happens in Wild caughts or f1's as much as oz lines.
I can also see you've thinned out the colony,,, what sex ratio you aiming for there ?

Sorry, I wasn't very clear on that last post. That video is of Lloyds tank that made me want to get some of his Moba. Theres some other videos of his that made me want to get frontosa at all.

He has some really nice WC colonies in the same sized tank that are a really active and just look a lot more impressive in a large group as opposed to one male and a few beat up girls.

Very cool, I love seeing them so active - slow moving but active for a fronty. I could drink my morning coffee in front of that tank every day of the year

I don't get sick of watching them.  The auto timer for the light doesn't turn on early enough for me to watch them before work and I would probably be late for work all the time if I did lol.

Always slow moving until you try and put a fish net into the tank.

The dates in the video titles are the dates the videos were taken. 

So first one was 16/4/15 and the last one was 19/7/16. 

Some of them have grown from around 5cm to  20cm+ in that time

Can you please share the filtration and general maintenance you do on this particular tank?

The filtration on this tank is a 4 foot sump filled with Jap mat, black sponge and heaps of Marine Pure spheres (about 15L).  

The pump is an Eheim compact+ 5000. 

 

 

 

 

 

The tank is a really low maintenance tank as I just do a weekly 30% water change and feed every couple of days. I used to feed everyday but as they've gotten bigger I reduced the feeding a bit.  Plus I no longer have hundred of JD fry to feed them lol. 

 

 

As for the lighting, the tank has two 18cm UpAqua Nano LEDs that sit at the front of the tank on an angle pointing towards the back. 

They do a pretty good job for $35 lights lol.
