Show Table Comp

The Show Table competition is the chance for our members to show off their most interesting, beautiful fish and the chance to win a $50 voucher on the night. A special prize will be awarded to the overall annual top three places. Even if you don't win on the night, you can still be in the running for the overall annual prizes!
Starting from 2010/11, every entry will receive a voucher, no matter the placing. This is to reward people simply for participating!
People who would like to show off their fish on the night are most welcome to do so, although only cichlids and catfish can be entered into the actual competition.
If you intend to show your fish outside the competition, you have to supply your own tank.
The competition takes place at all meetings except on Auction nights.
Entrants must supply their own small glass tank and one fish, however you can book a small tank if you don't have one. Bookings must be received at least one day before the meeting.
The Committee will appoint a judge on the night, usually the guest speaker. Entries will be judged and points awarded for the following:
Size: 20 points
Condition: 20 points
Deportment: 20 points
Finnage: 20 points
Colour: 20 points
making a total of 100 points.
First place receives 7 points, second place receives 5 points, third place received 3 points and all other entries receive 1 point.
To encourage members to enter the competition the PCS has bought a set of 3 tanks from Veba's, with many thanks to Pat for a great price. These tanks are available for PCS Club Members to loan for the monthly Show Table, these will of course be free of charge. The sizes of the tanks are :-
435 x 275 x 300 mm or ~ 18 x 11 x 12 inches
400 x 250 x 280 mm or ~ 16 x 10 x 11 inches
360 x 220 x 260 mm or ~ 14 x 9 x 10 inches
These will need to be pre-booked at the latest on the day before the Monthly Meeting and will be on a first come first served basis. Post here if you want to book a tank. Please remember to bring extra tank water and a heater and powerboard if necessary!
Rules:
1 - One fish of any species of Cichlid or Catfish per PCS Club Membership, no hybrids allowed.
2 - Fish need to be in a suitable size tank for that species.
3 - Fish should be in good condition, eg no fin or other damage or signs of illness
4 - Any fish can be disqualified at the discretion of the PCS Committee.
5 - No gravel or other substrate to be in the tank, no backgrounds on the tank

Would it be worthwhile breaking things down a bit into specific catagories? Lake Malawi, lake Tang, Vic, New world?
Awesome idea hope it gains the interest of keepers in WA

If the entries pick up, this is certainly an idea worth entertaining.
This competition has the highest value prize up for grabs each month compared to other comps - yet there are not many people entering so the people who do enter don't even have to beat many others to win the $50 voucher.

Dazza won the comp on the AGM night to secure his lead and overall victory. He won a $50 voucher for the night's win and an additional $100 cheque for the LFS of his choice for the overall win.
Well done to the other exhibitors on the night, we had 4 fish in total with Joel coming second and Tony and Cameron each getting a point.
Now the competitions starts fresh with the slate wiped clean, so bring a fish to a monthly meet (except for auctions, there is no show table on auction nights) and you can score yourself a $50 voucher and gather points towards the overall prize.
Please make sure you read the rules in the first post to avoid any disappointment.

Prizes for the overall winners are:
1st: $200 cheque made out to the premium sponsor of your choice
2nd: $100 cheque made out to the premium sponsor of your choice
3rd: $50 cheque made out to the premium sponsor of your choice
of course the winner on the night also gets the monthly prize of $50 Midland voucher.
The 2010/2011 competition, starting with the October meeting, will see every entry getting a voucher, so you're rewarded for just bringing a fish to the monthly competition.
