Hey guys I found an amazing pice of wood yesterday it was in the water and I wanted to know is eucalyptus wood ( appears to be a root) safe for my tank and what are ways I can get rid of any diseases off it and also made it aquarium safe.

well to kill anything living on it i would leave in it the sun until its completely dried out that way nothing will still be alive on it. As for chemicals i have no idea...

I've used eucalyptus wood before never had any problems with it, hydrogen peroxide or chlorine should be able to disinfect it......or you could just dry it out in the sun.

Buckets of boiling water (ideally pouring the boiling water over it), to kill out anything living in it.

Then leave it drying in the sun - after which you may wish to soak it in a bucket/pond so it (still) sinks.

As far as I know all wood will lower the ph to an extent correlating with the amount of tannin it releases into the water. Don't trust it to lower the ph by much - generally the lowering is pretty negligible, not to mention that the ph will go back up with water changes and that the wood will eventually stop leeching tannins.

Nice.

Big bucket or plastic container.

Plenty of boiling water

Then leave it in soak.

Then should be good to go.
